Print Guidelines
Details
To help ensure accuracy and quality of brand submitted artwork, JD North America has compiled requirements for preparing print ready files. Detailed instructions for creating artwork and hi-resolution PDFs and pre-built file templates for retail print placements are included in this document.
Before submitting files, use checklist:
+ CMYK Colors
+ Bleed
+ Crop Marks
+ Essential text/images within Live area
+ 300 ppi imagery
+ Outline/Embedded fonts
Artwork Guidelines
Acceptable File Formats
+ Hi-Resolution Print-Ready PDF (preferred)
+ Flattened TIFF file
+ Adobe InDesign*
+ Adobe Illustrator*
+ Adobe Photoshop*
*Package original working files, including linked images, fonts and a PDF for reference
Bleed, Crop and Live Areas
+ ½” (12.7 mm) bleed must be added to each side of document
+ Include crop marks when exporting
Colors
+ Convert RGB to CMYK colors
Imagery
+ Images in artwork should be 300 ppi
Fonts
+ Embed or outline fonts
Print Ready PDF Setting
Creating a Print Ready PDF
+ All PDFs should be high resolution
+ All PDFs must include ½” bleed on all sides and crop marks
+ All fonts must be embedded or outlined
+ Any process colors must be converted to CMYK prior to creating a PDF
Exporting Print Files from Adobe InDesign
+ File > Export
+ Set format to Adobe PDF (Print) > Save
+ Adobe PDF Preset > Press Quality
+ Marks and Bleeds > Select Crop Marks and Bleed Marks
+ Export
Exporting Print Files from Adobe Illustrator
+ File > Save As
+ Set format to Adobe PDF > Save
+ Adobe PDF Preset > Press Quality
+ Marks and Bleeds > Select Trim Marks and Use Document Bleed Settings
+ Save PDF
